Vietnamese Steamed Rice Rolls or, Bánh Cuốn, are thin sheets of steamed rice batter filled with ground pork and minced wood ear mushrooms. The rice rolls get a glaze of scallion oil and a sprinkle of crispy fried shallots, then served on a bed of fresh thinly sliced cucumbers, chopped lettuce, Vietnamese herbs, blanched bean sprouts and slices of Vietnamese sausage (Chả Lụa). All of this is served with a side of Vietnamese fish sauce dipping sauce (Nước Mắm Chấm). These rolls can have vegetarian or vegan fillings as well.

Bánh mì is a Vietnamese term for all kinds of bread. The word is derived from “bánh”, meaning cake or pastry, and “mì”, which can represent wheat. The phrase is used in the western hemisphere to refer to the meat-filled "Vietnamese sandwich" found in Vietnamese bakeries. Bread, or more specifically the baguette, was introduced to Vietnam by the French. It is most commonly found in a single-serving loaf, which is usually airier and crispier than its western counterpart, with a thinner crust. At Pure Delight we want to take this classic Vietnamese staple and give it a modern twist. Fully known as thit bo nuong la lot (thịt bò nướng lá lốt), this Vietnamese dish includes minced beef mixed with garlic and shallots and some simple spices, wrapped into wild betel leaves (also known as piper lolot leaves), rolled up like cigars, and grilled over hot charcoal.
After the bo la lot rolls are finished grilling, they are served accompanied by CHẠO TÔM ( vietnamese shrimp patties) bun vermicelli rice noodles, and a host of herbs and raw vegetables on the side. Finally, some extra dipping sauces, and freshly crushed chili, is what elevates the flavor of bo la lot to even higher levels of delicious.
The mix of of flavorful meat grilled in an herbaceous leaf, paired with raw vegetables are the reasons why BÒ LÁ LỐT is such an amazing Vietnamese dish.
